this wedding is just another example of why i loooove getting to cover the whole day. it was so relaxed and the images of the girls getting ready in the morning are some of my favorites of the day.
so many things about this day stand out to me, between the beautiful backdrop, the “desperate to see them kiss” karaoke-ing guests, the fruit bread (don’t even get me started), the grandmas full of kisses and last minute advice, the dog ring bearers and the twins….oh, the twins. the threat of rain didn’t scare these two away from having their wedding outside and the sun came out just in time to usher us into the evening. it was pretty perfect.

as i was going through this wedding trying to choose what to post, i couldn’t help but be drawn back to this moment. again and again. the day was full of meaning and beautiful details (all of which were meticulously documented – not to worry rebecca :)), but there was something about this that was so sacred and simple. the beauty of this couple, lead by their minister, sharing communion and personal vows under a lone willow tree was captivating. because in the end, THIS is where the heart of their day lies…in their commitment to one another.

i loved this wedding. i knew i was going to. was it the gorgeous weather? the perfect details? the super fun bridal party? the most genuine and sweet bride? the handsome groom who knows how to make his lady laugh? or the fact that i shot the entire ceremony (i repeat entire. ceremony.) with the back of my dress half unzipped?
all of the above.
special thanks to harvest store and cafe for letting us pop in! do yourself a favour…go eat a cinnamon bun there. you won’t regret it.
david & kristina: married

this wedding was a little bittersweet (for me) because it’s the third and final wedding i will get to attend and photograph for this family who is very dear to my heart. i am so honored to have been a part of so many big and beautiful moments in this family’s history and david & kristina’s day was no exception.
kristina’s mom has always wanted to see one of her children married in the darling chapel down the road from their house and with kristina, her wish came true. and since david has been enthralled by the magic of flight from a very young age, it only made sense that their reception would be held at the airport and their entrance to the party would be made in a plane flown by his grandfather.
kristina prepared almost all of the sweet little flight themed details single-handedly, from the map paper airplanes to the baggage claim seating chart to the chevron table runners. the vintage planes hanging from the ceiling of the museum were the perfect backdrop.
mans family, i love you all! thanks for inviting me into your lives.

this family has had its share of heartache this year, so this was a joyful celebration in recognition of where they’ve come from and in anticipation of what’s ahead. i’m so glad they were able to spend some time just being together, being relaxed and silly and enjoying each other’s company. this is what it’s all about, friends.

these guys sure know how to keep things interesting…both graduating from university a mere month before the wedding while planning a move across the country for bethany to pursue a masters degree. so it’s no wonder they wanted to keep the wedding comfortable and relaxed, which they certainly did. it was a gorgeous day, overlooking the river, surrounded by their dearests – just as they imagined.

january 2011, i was on a snowy highway returning from prince george when i got a call from emma saying oliver had been born and she wanted to get some baby pictures taken. he was a sweet and very wakeful little thing who i will always remember as the first baby (who was not my own) to pee on me . fast forward two and a half years and here is owen…born into the sun and sleepy as can be. opposites who are sure to be the best of friends.
